Asian Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines
Asia presents a working environment for practitioners, which is quite distinct from other parts of the world. Notably, it is common to prescribe CPAP for Asian patients only to find that the patients do not follow their course of treatment over the longer term. Short-term treatments are often successful, but the lack of longer-term compliance results in the absence of other medical treatment options for many patients. This is a key challenge for which the AACSDD seeks solutions.
To accomplish these goals, the experience and input from Asian physicians is essential. It is our vision to create a broad-based team of healthcare providers specializing in a range of sleep breathing disorders who are able to develop and implement successful treatment procedures for Asian patients. Our mission is the specific advancement of the practice of Asian dental sleep medicine through the creation of best practice guidelines, which will allow effective co-operation between physicians and dentists to serve the needs of Asian patients.
The continual advancement of Asian dental sleep medicine through the creation of locally inspired procedural guidelines developed and supported through the co-operation of Asian physicians and dentists is the goal of the Asian Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines. You are invited to support the achievement of these aims through your active participation.
Dental sleep medicine within Asia relies upon the co-operation and shared knowledge of Asian practitioners, and therefore the Asian Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines seeks to establish a home-grown Asian team of healthcare specialists who will be able to provide effective and successful treatment approaches for sleep breathing disorders. Through your financial and participatory support, you can play a major role in assisting the AACSDD in its valuable work.
The AACSDD offers two tiers of membership depending on your country of primary residence. Both tiers offer the same membership benefits, so please select depending on your country of primary residence.

AACSDD Academic Certificate Details
AACSDD has designed an academic certificate, which is awarded to new practitioners of dental sleep medicine who have demonstrated proficiency at the foundation level in education for dental sleep medicine.
Certification can assist the new dental sleep medicine practitioner to acquire a solid understanding of the field and can serve as a measure of professional standards within the industry, allowing practitioners to establish the level of trust required in creating successful working relationships. Certified practitioners will find they have greater access to opportunities to enhance their professional contacts and their income in the longer term.
Having obtained this initial certificate, practitioners will find the door is then open to further study and the achievement of additional medical credentials.
Terms of Eligibility
To be considered for certification, you must first be an AACSDD member in good standing. You must also be a practicing physician with at least five years’ clinical experience post-graduation, and you must hold a valid clinical license.
The certification procedure involves online accreditation carried out at the practitioner’s own pace. The practitioner is invited to complete a number of online lectures and corresponding lecture modules, and to read a number of specified texts. An examination follows the learning process.
The procedure commences with the submission of the practitioner’s license and liability insurance to the offices of the ACSDD. The relevant course materials can then be sent to the practitioner.
The course materials must be completed within a timeframe of four months from the date of commencement. The examination will then follow.
